iPod Goes Well with English!

Tuesday, June 2nd, 2009

I want to thank you so much for the opportunity to use the iTouch in my classroom this year. I apologize that this email is so late, but the end-of-the-year business has kept me on my toes. I have enjoyed using this iPod because it has allowed me to bring extra media to my students. I’ve downloaded audio books for supplementing what is provided in the textbooks and I’ve introduced more music into my lessons. I think the best lesson was my introduction to Arthur Miller’s The Crucible. I was able to find episodes from the History Channel’s show “Surviving History” that dealt with the torture devices that were used on those accused of witchcraft. I was also able to find discussions concerning McCarthyism. The images of what people were subjected to really brought home the seriousness of this tragic part of our country’s history.

I would have liked to have done more, but I do not have an LCD projector for my exclusive use. I had to share with my department, which isn’t bad, but I truly had to plan in advance and often times plans get set aside.

I’m going to spend the summer trying to find more ways to incorporate my iTouch into my classroom. Thank you again for all of your help and support.

Sincerely,

Stephanie M. Francis
