Public Education Partners Programs

Since 1995, Public Education Partners has awarded over 80 grants to public schools in Aiken County, totaling well over $350,000. Public Education Partners also helps schools write grants and find resources to support projects, from outdoor classrooms to computer labs.

Students need to be able to read and to read well.  Public Education Partners has provided funding for Great Leaps Reading at 12 schools in the District.  We have trained over 450 mentors to work one-on-one with students who are slow, non-fluent readers.  In 2001-2, results from A. L. Corbett Middle and East Aiken Elementary demonstrated that students could improve not only their fluency levels, but their PACT scores in language arts.   For more information Great Leaps, visit their website, www.greatleaps.com.
